LIQUID MYTHS is a collaborative sound lecture by Jesse Chun and Guadalupe Maravilla. It was presented at BAM Fisher in Brooklyn, New York on November 13th, 2018. The project was created by merging and redacting folklore narratives from South Korea and South America, bedtime lores, shamanistic traditions, K-pop and latin love songs. LIQUID MYTHS contemplates the traditional, mythical, failed, and contemporary tales of land, displacement, and mobility. By sonically mixing fragments of their cultural memories, Chun and Maravilla author a new kind of folklore — one that subverts the homogenous and nationalist narrative, and opens up a transcultural geography of sound.
