LIQUID MYTHS

LIQUID MYTHS is a collaborative sound lecture by Jesse Chun and Guadalupe Maravilla. The live performance was presented at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) in Brooklyn, New York on November 13th, 2018. The project was created by merging and redacting folklore narratives from South Korea and South America, bedtime lores, shamanistic traditions, border bureaucracies, K-pop and latin love song lyrics. By sonically mixing fragments of their cultural memories and languages, Chun and Maravilla author a new kind of folklore — one that subverts the homogenous, nationalist narratives, and opens up a diasporic geography of sound.
